I am Professor of Energy Systems at the Department of Energy, Mechanical Engineering Faculty<\/a> , UNICAMP (University of Campinas),<\/a> former Dean of the Graduate Program in Energy Planning<\/a> of this University, and former the Head and current Senior Researcher at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Energy Studies<\/a> at UNICAMP.<\/p>\n

I am also the Executive Director of the International Energy Initiative (IEI)\u00a0<\/a>, a Southern-conceived, Southern-led and Southern-located South-South-North partnership. It is a small, independent, international non-governmental public-purpose organization led by internationally recognized energy experts, and with regional offices, staff and programs in Latin America <\/a>, Africa and Asia. IEI is responsible for the publication of the Energy for Sustainable Development journal<\/a> (Elsevier).<\/p>\n

I have a Ph.D. degree from Cambridge University, U.K. (Energy Research Group, Cavendish Laboratory), and spent some time as Visiting Scholar at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab ., USA, UNEP Centre on Energy and Environment, Denmark, Centre International de Recherche sur l’Environnement et le D\u00e9veloppement , France, and others. I have been the Technical Coordinator of the National Energy R&D Fund at the Centre for Strategic Management and Studies<\/a>, Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology. Previously, I was the Executive-Director of the Technology Transfer Office of the University of Campinas.<\/p>\n

My interests are related to energy planning, with special emphasis on energy efficiency and conservation, renewables, energy and environmental policy, and technology transfer issues.<\/p>\n

Fui coordenador t\u00e9cnico do Fundo CTEnerg<\/a> do Minist\u00e9rio de Ci\u00eancia e Tecnologia, e analista do Centro de Gest\u00e3o e Estudos Estrat\u00e9gicos<\/a>, Minist\u00e9rio da Ci\u00eancia e Tecnologia. Na UNICAMP fui tamb\u00e9m diretor-executivo do Escrit\u00f3rio de Transfer\u00eancia de Tecnologia.<\/p>\n

Tenho tr\u00eas livros publicados em Planejamento Energ\u00e9tico e Pol\u00edticas Energ\u00e9ticas, diversos\u00a0artigos publicados em revistas especializadas, e orientei mais de 35 alunos de mestrado e doutorado.<\/p>\n
