Se sim, voc\u00ea j\u00e1 notou como as folhas de ch\u00e1 t\u00eam um estranho comportamento enquanto voc\u00ea as mexe com uma colher na \u00e1gua quente? Em caso negativo, da pr\u00f3xima vez que for fazer seu ch\u00e1, use folhas e observe: elas tendem a migrar para o centro e para o fundo da x\u00edcara, ao contr\u00e1rio do que seria de se esperar quando se tem uma for\u00e7a centr\u00edfuga espiral. N\u00e3o est\u00e1 claro desde quando o fen\u00f4meno \u00e9 conhecido (nem se foi notado por Lewis Carroll), mas ele foi solucionado por ningu\u00e9m menos que Albert Einstein em 1926.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Mas n\u00e3o \u00e9 preciso ser um g\u00eanio para entender o fen\u00f4meno. Todo mundo sabe que agitar o l\u00edquido na x\u00edcara o faz girar dentro dela. Para que se mantenha essa trajet\u00f3ria curvada, uma for\u00e7a <em>centr\u00edpeta<\/em> (para dentro) \u00e9 necess\u00e1ria. Isso se d\u00e1 atrav\u00e9s de um gradiente de press\u00e3o externo (press\u00e3o maior fora do que dentro).<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Entretanto, perto do fundo da x\u00edcara e das bordas, o l\u00edquido sofre os efeitos da fric\u00e7\u00e3o. N\u00e3o importa qu\u00e3o lisa pare\u00e7a a sua x\u00edcara, ela sempre vai ter algum atrito com a \u00e1gua do ch\u00e1. Nesse ponto, a for\u00e7a <em>centr\u00edfuga<\/em> (para fora) enfraquece, pois a velocidade do l\u00edquido cai e o gradiente de press\u00e3o torna-se predominante.<a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com.br\/hypercubic\/files\/2011\/12\/Xcara.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;float: none;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;padding-top: 0px;border-width: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com.br\/hypercubic\/files\/2011\/12\/Xcara_thumb.png\" alt=\"X\u00edcara\" width=\"281\" height=\"220\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Por\u00e9m, gra\u00e7as \u00e0 for\u00e7a centr\u00edfuga \u00e9 que a press\u00e3o \u00e9 maior ao longo da borda do que no centro da x\u00edcara. Se o l\u00edquido como um todo rotacionasse como um corpo s\u00f3lido, a for\u00e7a centr\u00edpeta anularia a centr\u00edfuga e n\u00e3o haveria qualquer movimento quer para dentro quer para fora. (E voc\u00ea bebe porque \u00e9 l\u00edquido; se fosse s\u00f3lido, com\u00ea-lo-ia).<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">No fundo da x\u00edcara, a rota\u00e7\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 mais lenta. Portanto, o gradiente de press\u00e3o cria um fluxo para dentro. Na superf\u00edcie, o l\u00edquido move-se como o vemos: para fora. \u00c9 esse fluxo secund\u00e1rio que faz as folhas agruparem-se no centro, depois em cima, nas bordas, e perto do fundo.
