Para quem n\u00e3o sabe, os contos de horror c\u00f3smico de H. P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) retratam um mundo muito al\u00e9m da compreens\u00e3o humana. Situado na tr\u00edplice fronteira do horror com a fantasia e a fic\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica, seu universo \u00e9 governado por deuses com apar\u00eancias capazes de perturbar qualquer mente s\u00e3. O primeiro destes contos foi \u201cThe Call of Cthulhu\u201d, escrito em 1926 e publicado na Weird Tales<\/em> de fevereiro de 1928. A Wikisource<\/a><\/em> tem o texto na \u00edntegra (em ingl\u00eas, of course<\/em>). O Chamado de Cthulhu<\/em> \u00e9 uma tradu\u00e7\u00e3o para o portugu\u00eas disponibilizada pelo Site Lovecraft<\/a> [pdf em zip<\/a>].<\/p>\n

Mas e se, em vez de contos, Lovecraft tivesse contado a hist\u00f3ria de Cthulhu em versos? Em 2011, o americano David Jalajel fez de Lovecraft um poeta. Ou quase isso. No poema experimental Cthulhu on Lesbos [Cthulhu em Lesbos]<\/em>, Jalajel pega frases de The Call of Cthulhu<\/em> e as arranja em cantos safados<\/del> s\u00e1ficos<\/a> com pouca ou mesmo nenhuma considera\u00e7\u00e3o pela sintaxe convencional. Eis os primeiros versos, acompanhados de nossa tradu\u00e7\u00e3o:<\/p>\n

Most in world, is human to all its contents.

At\u00e9 a\u00ed, nada de muito bizarro. S\u00f3 que os v\u00e1rios pseudocantos lovecraftianos estendem-se por dezenas de p\u00e1ginas, mais ou menos nesse ritmo:<\/p>\n

Infelizmente, a obra de Jalajel n\u00e3o est\u00e1 dispon\u00edvel online na \u00edntegra. H\u00e1 uma boa amostra com as dez primeiras p\u00e1ginas aqui<\/a> [pdf]. Se algu\u00e9m quiser se arriscar, \u00e9 melhor correr: s\u00f3 tem um \u00fanico exemplar de Cthulhu on Lesbos<\/em> disposn\u00edvel na Amazon<\/a> (por 12 d\u00f3lares).<\/p>\n

Por outro lado, o Lovrecraft poeta nem \u00e9 t\u00e3o ficcional assim: o criador de Cthulhu escreveu diversas poesias<\/a>. Se voc\u00ea ainda prefere o Lovecraft contistas, uma colet\u00e2nea de seus contos \u00e9 cortesia do Project Gutenberg Australia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Por fim, para quem n\u00e3o se importa com spoilers<\/em> (se \u00e9 que pode haver spoiler<\/em> numa obra que \u00e9 apenas um remix<\/em>), os versos que encerram Cthulhu on Lesbos<\/em> s\u00e3o terrivelmente enigm\u00e1ticos:<\/p>\n
