Por mais alfaces que voc\u00ea devore, n\u00e3o vai conseguir. Para conseguir roubar o mecanismo da fotoss\u00edntese, \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio roub\u00e1-lo de maneira mais sutil. \u00c9 preciso ser um cleptoplasta.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">A cleptoplastia \u00e9 um tipo de simbiose no qual os plast\u00eddeos \u2014 especialmente os cloroplastos \u2014 de algas s\u00e3o sequestrados pelos seus predadores. Os organismos cleptoplastas comem as algas numa boa, como qualquer herb\u00edvoro, mas poupam os cloroplastos durante a digest\u00e3o. Assim preservados, os plast\u00eddeos continuam funcionais e s\u00e3o \u201cmantidos em cativeiro\u201d pelo predador.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Esse fen\u00f4meno \u00e9 relativamente comum em alguns seres unicelulares, como foramin\u00edferos, dinoflagelados e ciliados. Mas nem sempre \u00e9 preciso um microsc\u00f3pio para ver um cleptoplasta em a\u00e7\u00e3o. Os poucos animais que se apropriam indebitamente de cloroplastos s\u00e3o as pequenas lesmas marinhas do taxon <em>Sacoglossa<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Depois de jantar umas algas, os bichinhos (que t\u00eam entre 7mm e 8cm) guardam os cloroplastos em seu epit\u00e9lio digestivo ou mesmo em outros tecidos. H\u00e1 muito essa caracter\u00edstica chama a aten\u00e7\u00e3o dos cientistas interessados na evolu\u00e7\u00e3o da endossimbiose.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Segundo um <em>paper<\/em> publicado em 2009 por Katharina H\u00e4ndeler <em>et. al<\/em>., a atividade fotossint\u00e9tica varia amplamente entre as esp\u00e9cies sacoglossas. Nas lesmas estudadas, foram observados tr\u00eas tipos de cleptoplastia: n\u00e3o-funcional (i.e., os cloroplastos s\u00e3o preservados mas n\u00e3o usados); de curto prazo (cloroplastos funcionam por apenas uma semana) e de longo prazo (cloroplastos funcionais por mais de um m\u00eas).<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Uma das esp\u00e9cies com reten\u00e7\u00e3o de longo prazo \u00e9 a <em>Elysia crispata<\/em>, que, ao longo da vida, pode ser tanto hetero- quanto autotr\u00f3fica.
