Quatro laborat\u00f3rios lutavam para ver quem iria derrubar um limite que \u00e9 o equivalente \u00f3ptico da barreira do som.<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">Quando voc\u00ea registra uma imagem, cada ponto do objeto deveria corresponder a um ponto na fotografia. Isso seria o ideal, mas n\u00e3o \u00e9 o que acontece. Uma maneira simples de aumentar a qualidade do registro \u00e9 colocar mais pontos em cada imagem \u2014 \u00e9 o aumento da resolu\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Tradicionalmente, t\u00eam sido usadas t\u00e9cnicas como mecanismos com abertura maior ou ilumina\u00e7\u00e3o com comprimentos de ondas menores. Em sistemas digitais, pode-se aumentar o n\u00famero de <em>pixels<\/em> por imagem. Essa abordagem, por\u00e9m, s\u00f3 funciona at\u00e9 certo ponto, conhecido como <a href=\"https:\/\/pt.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lei_de_Rayleigh-Jeans\">Limite de Rayleigh<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">O problema deve-se \u00e0 natureza ondulat\u00f3ria da luz, que leva \u00e0 difra\u00e7\u00e3o, especialmente nas bordas da imagem. O resultado \u00e9 que \u2014 independente da grava\u00e7\u00e3o ser anal\u00f3gica ou digital \u2014 a imagem de um ponto estar\u00e1 mais para um borr\u00e3o. Esse fen\u00f4meno ocorre em qualquer sistema dependente da luz vis\u00edvel, de telesc\u00f3pios a microsc\u00f3pios.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Definido no in\u00edcio do s\u00e9c. XX por <a href=\"https:\/\/pt.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_William_Strutt\">John William Strutt, 3\u00ba. Bar\u00e3o de Rayleigh [1842-1919]<\/a>, o Limite de Resolu\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 a dist\u00e2ncia m\u00ednima que pode ser distinguida com o uso de luz vis\u00edvel: cerca de 0,1 micr\u00f4metro. Para efeito de compara\u00e7\u00e3o, uma bact\u00e9ria tem 2 micr\u00f4metros de comprimentos. A partir daqui n\u00e3o adianta tentar colocar mais <em>pixels<\/em> por imagem, pois o resultado sempre ficaria borrado. No entanto, o Limite de Rayleigh poderia ser super\u00e1vel, como um an\u00e1logo visual da barreira do som. E n\u00e3o faltaram f\u00edsicos querendo bater essa barreira.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Ao redor do mundo, quatro grupos de pesquisa lutavam com aparelhos \u00f3pticos para ver quem encontraria a imagem mais precisa j\u00e1 registrada. O objetivo era fazer uma imagem de dois pontos separados por uma dist\u00e2ncia menor que o Limite de Rayleigh. Quem conseguiu o feito foi o time de cientistas da Universidade Complutense de Madri (Espanha) e da Universidade Palack\u00fd (Rep. Tcheca).<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: none;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.phys.org\/newman\/gfx\/news\/hires\/2016\/ateamofphysi.jpg\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1500\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">N\u00e3o parece, mas essa imagem pixelada \u00e9 das mais precisas j\u00e1 registradas: os dois pontos est\u00e3o situados na dist\u00e2ncia-limite de Rayleigh. [Imagem: Martin Pa\u00far\/Universidade Palack\u00fd]<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p align=\"justify\">Sob lideran\u00e7a de Luis S\u00e1nchez Soto, professor de f\u00edsica da Complutense, os cientistas conseguiram registrar imagens que quebraram o tabu de Lord Rayleigh por uma larga margem: os pontos situavam-se a uma dist\u00e2ncia at\u00e9 17 vezes menor que o limite de resolu\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Para conseguir esse feito, os pesquisadores constru\u00edram um aparelho de holografia digital baseado em algo conhecido como limite qu\u00e2ntico inferior de <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cram\u00e9r\u2013Rao_bound\">Cram\u00e9r-Rao<\/a> (qCLRB, na sigla em ingl\u00eas). O qCLRB \u00e9 uma ferramenta estat\u00edstica que pode ser aplicada ao processamento de imagens.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Os resultados, que foram publicados na revista <em>Optica<\/em>, indicam que o Limite de Rayleigh n\u00e3o \u00e9 imbat\u00edvel pois pode ser superado com uma boa estrat\u00e9gia de detec\u00e7\u00e3o.
