Eles determinam todas as nossas caracter\u00edsticas, como a cor dos olhos, cabelos e da pele. H\u00e1 ainda outros genes que podem nos deixar mais propensos a desenvolver certas doen\u00e7as.\u00a0Os pesquisadores identificaram, por exemplo, uma s\u00e9rie de genes associados \u00e0 Doen\u00e7a de Alzheimer (DA). Simplificadamente, existem algumas muta\u00e7\u00f5es gen\u00e9ticas raras na prote\u00edna precursora do amiloide (APP), presenilina-1 (PSEN1) e presenilina-2 (PSEN2) que causam a DA de in\u00edcio
